I dunno, the fanboy in me can't take much more of this. Either it's happening, and this is awesome news (makes up for the friggin game being delayed almost a YEAR), or it's happening, and this movie could go horribly sideways....

That article was posted on Thursday....over the weekend, none other than Egon himself fired off an open letter to the Chicago Tribune, regarding the status of the third Ghostbusters installment, read on:
yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my year one writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. judd apatow is co-producing year one and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. not much else to say at this point. everyone is confident a decent script can be written and i guess we'll take it from there.
best,
harold
Does this mean we'll see such Judd Apatow staples as Seth Rogan? Paul Rudd? Time will tell..
What do you think of a third Ghostbusters? Yay or nay?

How can you not be excited about it. Its Ghostbusters; and if they are involved, then it will be bigger than the Dark Knight.
Wow, hard to say with this one -- remember when it was going to be Chris Farley, etc.? They seem to tie the Ghostbusters franchise to every new group of comic actors... So, now... it's the latest crop of comic talent with Apatow etc...? Surprise... not?
...no but really, I think one of the most interesting parts to this story is the notion that the script is being tackled by someone outside of the original team. Is it just me, or is that not remarkable?
it is great news they are going to make ghostbusters 3
